WebPad Studio TR

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

In short

  • Your notes, screenshots and drawings are stored on your own device, in your browser’s storage.
  • No account, no server, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. We cannot see your data, and we never sell or share it.
  • The extension reads a web page only when you ask it to (Snip or Web clip).
  • Google Drive sync is optional. If you turn it on, your data is written only to a hidden folder that belongs to WebPad in your own Google Drive — nothing is sent to us.

1. What WebPad Studio stores

Everything you create is saved in your browser’s storage (IndexedDB and chrome.storage) on your own device:

  • Notebooks, sections, pages, tags and the text, tables and charts you write;
  • Images you add, screenshots you capture, drawings, and shapes saved to your library;
  • For web clips and screenshots: the title, address (URL), description and preview image of the page;
  • Your settings (theme, language, open folders, last opened page, sync preference).

Unless you turn on Google Drive sync, this data never leaves your device through WebPad Studio. We, the developer, have no access to it.

2. When the extension accesses web pages

WebPad Studio does not read or monitor the pages you browse. It accesses the current tab only after you explicitly use one of these features:

  • Snip (button or Alt+Shift+S): shows an element picker, takes a screenshot of the visible area and crops it to the element or area you choose.
  • Use screen sharing: on pages Chrome closes to extensions (e.g. the Web Store), a single frame is taken from the tab you pick in Chrome’s own sharing dialog, and sharing stops immediately.
  • Web clip: reads the page title, URL, icon, description and preview image to create a link card.

The result is saved in your notes, locally. Nothing is sent to us.

3. Google Drive sync (optional)

If you choose Connect with Google under Backup → Google Drive:

  • Sign-in happens in Chrome’s own Google account dialog (chrome.identity). We never see your password; Chrome manages the access token.
  • The extension asks only for the drive.appdata scope: it can read and write files in a hidden app folder that belongs to WebPad Studio in your Drive. It cannot see or change any other file in your Drive.
  • Your notes (notebooks, sections, pages, tags, drawing library) are written to that folder as one compressed file, and your pictures as separate files, so the same notes open in every Chrome where you are signed in with the same Google account.
  • Data travels directly between your browser and Google. WebPad Studio has no server; your data never reaches us.
  • Your account’s e-mail address is kept on your device only, to show which account is connected.
  • Disconnect stops syncing and revokes the access token; Delete the Drive backup removes everything in the folder. You can also remove access at any time under Google Account → Security → Third-party access.

WebPad Studio’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This data is used only to provide the sync feature; it is not used for advertising, not sold, and not read by humans.

4. Permissions and why they are needed

PermissionPurpose
sidePanelShows the notebook in Chrome’s side panel.
storage, unlimitedStorageSaves your notes, images and settings locally; allows large notebooks with many pictures.
activeTabTemporary access to the current tab only when you invoke the extension, for Snip and Web clip.
scriptingInjects the element picker and reads page details for Snip and Web clip, only when you use them.
faviconShows website icons on link cards from Chrome’s built-in icon cache.
identityUsed only if you turn on Google Drive sync, to sign in with your Google account.
alarmsSchedules automatic sync at the frequency you choose (e.g. hourly).
Optional: access to all sitesRequested only when you press Snip or Web clip in the side panel and the page isn’t accessible yet. Chrome asks first; you can decline and revoke it later.

5. Content loaded from third parties

  • Videos you embed are played by YouTube (privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com mode) or Vimeo when you press play; YouTube thumbnails load from i.ytimg.com.
  • Link cards show the website’s icon and preview image from that website.

These services receive standard request information (such as your IP address) under their own privacy policies. WebPad Studio sends them no note content.

6. Feedback and uninstall survey

“Send feedback” opens a Google Form, and Chrome opens a short Google Form survey when the extension is uninstalled. The forms are pre-filled with the extension version, interface language and browser name; they contain no notes or browsing data. Anything is sent only if you choose to submit it, and your e-mail address is optional. Responses are processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy and used only to improve WebPad Studio.

7. Backups

Backups you export are saved as files on your device. Where you keep them (e.g. a cloud drive) is your choice. You can encrypt a backup with a password; the password is never sent to us, and a lost password cannot be recovered.

8. Deleting your data

You can delete pages, sections or notebooks at any time. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data from your browser. If you used Drive sync, delete the Drive copy with “Delete the Drive backup” in the extension, or under Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

9. Children

WebPad Studio does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

10. Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is published on this page with a new effective date. Material changes are announced in the extension before they take effect.
